At Salt House, we are inspired by the need to secure the future of every African child and youth.

AFRICA TODAY

AFRICA TODAY is a media initiative of Salt HOUSE reporting news, interviews, documentaries and exclusive reports on the status of education, healthcare, Employment and Infrastructure across rural communities in Africa. Reports are collated by our research teams across the continent, as well as from partner media organizations published across our social media handles on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.

BUSINESS DRIVE FOR HER

According to a Salt House report, 71% of women in rural communities are breadwinners, engaging in small-scale trade and earning insufficient to cater for their household amenities. The Business Drive for Her is an entrepreneurship project geared towards providing financial, technical and mentoring support for 6000 women in rural communities to grow revenue, and invariably sustainable prosperity. RURALEARN

Rural access to quality education remains a palpable impediment to social and economic advancement in Africa. An estimated 54 million children are out of school, and this number is expected to grow in the next decade without insistent intervention by the private and public sector. RURALEARN is an education research center sponsored by SALT HOUSE for designing intervention projects for improving rural access to quality education. For more information, contact the department on ruralearn@salthouse.africa

WATERNORTH

Based on 2018 research report by SALT HOUSE, 68% of the total households in Northern Nigeria lack access to clean water. Rural communities in the region, which is characterized by farming activities, also lack adequate irrigation systems. This has invariably led to famine, hunger, poor health conditions and poverty. The WATERNORTH project is aimed at providing 10,000 households in Northern Nigeria with clean water by 2025. For more information, contact us at waternorth@salthouse.africa.
